Mobile chainsaw milling

Covering Cumbria, Lancashire and surrounding areas

We can turn your downed trees into valuable live-edge slabs, boards, beams and posts for your own use or sale.

With our lightweight and portable Alaskan chainsaw mills, we can come to you and mill your logs where they are, without the need for big machinery.

Chainsaw milling is the art of turning logs into usable timber, with the use of a high-powered professional chainsaw combined with specialist milling equipment. We use this to salvage trees from becoming firewood, or simply rotting away, by turning them into valuable live-edge slabs, boards, beams and posts. The process is completed on-site, without the need for big machinery to move the wood.

If you have trees you'd like to turn into timber, we can help.

We can also either advise or assist with the stacking, stickering and strapping of milled timber, as well as sealing end-grain and spraying with insecticide if needed.

We can mill logs up to:

  • 6'3" or 193cm wide

  • 29 feet or 9m long

Our mobile milling starts at £325 per day. The number of days needed varies depending on the log's species and sizes, access and assistance, and dimensions to be milled.

"I had a cedar log which was too good to cut for firewood. Jack helped make it into useful slabs which I hope to use for garden furniture.

Jack is prompt and professional and helped by explaining the best method to make the most of the tree."

"Jack is very personable and a pleasure to have had on site.
He's knowledgeable and professional, being very realistic and honest about what we could get out of the timber, while maximising yield.

He also offered great advice on how to store and dry the milled wood."

Mobile chainsaw milling services

We offer 3 different levels of chainsaw milling services, depending on the size logs you're looking to get milled:

Mini

Small logs
up to 19" / 48cm in diameter

from £325 per day

with 1 operator

These small logs can be easily milled with our first-cut rails and mini chainsaw mill to produce beautiful live-edge boards.

While 1 operator is milling, you'll need to either assist or provide a helper to manually move the timber as it's milled.

Mighty

Medium/large logs

up to 42” / 107cm in diameter

from £400 per day

with 1 operator

Larger logs can be converted into live-edge slabs, but can also be re-sawn vertically to produce posts, beams, dimensional timber or cladding boards.

While 1 operator is milling, you'll need to either assist or provide a helper to manually move the timber as it's milled.

Maxi

Supersized/oversize logs

up to 76” / 193cm in diamter

from £625 per day

with 2 operators

Typically reserved for stunning full-width live-edge slabs for table tops and furniture making, we can mill some of the largest logs in the UK onsite.

For logs of this size, you'll either need your own machines (eg telehandler), or factor in hiring them in, to manouver the slabs once milled.

Additional costs:

Travel time and expenses: mileage/travel time and accommodation will be quoted where appropriate

Contribution towards damaged chains: embedded metal or stones in trees can damage chains. Contributions towards damage apply, ranging from £25 for minor damage, up to replacement value for written-off chains of up to £95 for brand new maxi/6-7ft width bars

Stickers/battens: stickers or battens of wood are essential for the successful air drying of your timber. We may be able to supply these and charge for the number used. We can advise on their pricing/availability in advance, or signpost you to alternative suppliers.
